Bob Swann

Role and expertise

Bob Swan was a close friend of economist E.F. Schumacher and inspired the Schumacher Center for a New Economics’ work on local currencies and the commons.  In 1980, he established the E. F. Schumacher Society in Great Barrington, Massachusetts (now the Schumacher Center for a New Economics). His work constitutes a direct link with Schumacher’s philosophy and is a tangible in the commitment of the work of the Center.

His work, and the work of the center, has inspired the launch of BerkShares local currency scheme in Massachusetts and the Agrarian Trust.
